          DCBA 21st Annual Golf Outing & Dinner Banquet

Bloomfield Hills, Michigan

-- On September 20, the Detroit Chinese Business Association successfully held our annual golf outing and dinner banquet at Forest Lake Country Club this year!
It was a beautiful day in Bloomfield Hills, over 90 golfers from local and international companies enjoying the majestic golf course.
A123 Systems team are the gold club winners, Baker Tilly team 2 won the silver trophy, and Kerr Russell won the Bronze trophy this year. Congratulations to all the winners.

After the golf outing, a cocktail reception was held in the main hall of Forest Lake Country Club. DCBA sponsors, members, guests, and friends gathered, talked before the dinner banquet began. 
The dinner banquet started at 6:00 pm, the DCBA president, Jerry Xu made welcome remark to all the guests. The executive director of Michigan-China Innovation Center - Mr. Brian Connors and the partner of Kerr Russell - Mr. Jim Cambridge made keynote speeches.

                     Michigan-Shenzhen Exchange Meeting
Detroit, Michigan --On September 22The Detroit Chinese Business Association joined Brian Connors, Executive Director of Michigan China Innovation Center, along with other local Chinese American Business and Community Leaders in welcoming the representatives of the "Canada Confederation of Shenzhen Associations" along with a delegation of over 33 businesspersons from Shenzhen China visiting Detroit. 
A Presentation at the Westin Book Cadillac Hotel and Private Dinner made for a productive and fun day and life-long acquaintances.

Event Forecast: 
"Industrial Upgrading and Economic Growth in China" Conference 
Dr. Yifu (Justin) Lin 
The Ross School of Business of the University of Michigan will host the Annual Conference of the Lieberthal-Rogel Center for Chinese Studies on October 21-22 2016. 
The conference, "Industrial Upgrading and Economic Growth in China," will examine China's changing development model and the role of industrial upgrading in promoting new sources of growth and development. Distinguished speakers include Dr. Yifu (Justin) Lin from Peking University and Dr. Shangjin Wei from Columbia University. 
Dr. Lin is one of the most renowned economists in China and among the major economic advisors to the Chinese government. He formerly served as the Chief Economist and Senior Vice President of the World Bank. 
Dr. Shangjin Wei is the N. T. Wang Professor of Chinese Business and Economy at Columbia University and is currently serving as the Chief Economist of the Asian Development Bank. 
There will also be several other executives and prominent economists from University of Chicago, Harvard University, and the World Bank. Dr. Jack Hu, Vice President for Research at the University of Michigan and J. Reid and Polly Anderson Professor of Manufacturing, will also speak at the conference.
Detroit Chinese Business Association (DCBA) was invited to assist curate the conference and several pre-conference activities. This is a wonderful opportunity to further reinforce the relationship between the Chinese business community and University of Michigan, and would deeply enrich the content and discussion at the conference.
