18th DCBA Golf Outing & Business Networking

Michigan’s Economic Development Corporation (MEDC), Oakland County, Corrigan Air and Sea Cargo, Detroit Chinese Business Association’s (DCBA), and other major sponsors teamed up to bring delegations from China to attend local events that engaged hundreds of Michigan business, government, and community leaders.

Thirty Chinese business leaders and government officials from Shanghai and other economically significant areas met their Detroit and Michigan counterparts at the magnificent TPC Country Club in Dearborn Monday morning, Sept. 23.  The one hundred seventy attendees that attended this occasion were delighted with a golf outing that was kicked off by clubhouse breakfast presentations by Brian Holdwick, VP Detroit Economic Growth Corporation; Dave DiRita, CEO Roxbury Group; Mike Flanagan, VP MEDC; Xiaoming Shan, the Honorable Mayor of Haian; and moderated by Steven Hilfinger, COO of the MEDC.

Jerry Xu, DCBA President, was the master of ceremonies and his organization was the host.  The beautiful day of golf was capped by a dinner reception at the clubhouse where the groundwork for relationships leading to investments and exchanges were forged in earnest.

MEDC Vice President and International Team Lead, Mark Kinsler, led the dinner reception with introductions from Mayor of Toledo, Mike Bell; Wayne Co. Executive, Robert Ficano; Riverfront Conservancy CEO, Faye Nelson; and business and government leaders from the Haian, Nantong, and Shandong provinces.

Over five hundred dollars for charity were raised by golf clinics provided by four of the America’s Summer Golf Capital (ASGC) PGA Pros, as well as ASGC certificates for 18 rounds of golf.  Grand prizes of weekend stays and golf outings at Crystal Mountain and Treetops Resorts highlighted the awards that topped off Monday’s festivities.
