th Annual US-China Automotive Forum 
at Cobo Center
On January 12, 2016, Governor Snyder, Kevin Kerrigan & Lisa Gray welcomed  "The Next Evolution"  with luncheon presentations by Chairman Wang of CCPIT Auto, Consul General Zhao & VP Shuping of Beijing Automotive, Joseph Hinrichs and John Lawler of Ford Motor updated us on progress in China, a great kick-off event the North American International Auto Show season ... Dozens of Detroit Chinese Business Association Sponsors and board member Sonny Wang represented The DCBA.
 
 
DCBA to attend DSO 2017 Friendship Tour Meeting
On January 22, 2016, along with other business leaders and government officials, DCBA as a tour sponsor was invited to Detroit Symphony Orchestra 2017 Friendship Tour Meeting. Mr. Paul Hogle, the executive vice president, and Ms. Danielle Manley, director of advancement of institutional giving gave speeches on excited news about their tour and the fundraising schedule. Besides Shanghai, Chongqing, and Beijing, the DSO will have two more stops in China, Changsha and Hangzhou. The DSO 2017 Friendship Tour will take place in July of 2017. 
DCBA 2016 Chinese New Year Gala will be held at the DSO on February 22nd, 2016. DSO team and DCBA team are working closely to promote the potential opportunities between DSO and the community through the gala. Not only is this collaboration an essential platform for people to connect with each other locally and internationally, but also an effort we put in to help revitalize the city of Detroit and the state of Michigan.
 
 
DCBA Toured the Chief Marketing Officer 
for Alibaba Downtown Detroit

On January 26, 2016, the Detroit Chinese Business Association was thrilled to co-host Alibaba Country Manager Officer Tiger Wang.

 

A Luncheon in Mr. Wang's honor was provided by Michael Pavan CEO of Dialog Direct at the London Chop House, guests included Jerry Xu, Sara Coulter and Matthew Quigley from Dept. of Commerce.

 

Followed by a introduction to Rock Ventures, where Mr. Wang was greeted by several Rock team members, led by Quicken President and CMO Jay Farner. A Detroit craft beer tasting at Downtown Louie's hosted by Shannon Long of Brew Export finished up a great afternoon in the D for Mr. Wang.

 

Alibaba owns the largest B2B platform & Tmall.com one of the largest e-commerce sites in the world. Additionally Alibaba & General Motors are major investors into LYFT the global ridesharing platform; ushering a new era of collaborations between the Motor Metropolis, Silicon Valley and China. We look forward to Alibaba's possible return to Detroit for the Chinese New Year Gala held on February 22nd at the Max & Marjorie Fisher Music Center.
