EVENTS IN FEBRUARY--
DCBA 2016 Chinese New Year Gala on Feb. 22
at the 

Max M. & Marjorie S. Fisher Music Center

On Monday, February 22nd, Detroit Symphony Orchestra (DSO) in collaboration with China Broadcasting Chinese Orchestra helped the DCBA celebrate 2016 Lunar New Year of Monkey at the internationally acclaimed DSO Orchestra Hall and Max M and Marjorie S Fisher Music Center. 
Jerry Xu, DCBA President welcomed all the guests, acknowledged the DCBA team and introduced government officials and business leaders. The keynote speaker, Lt. Governor Mr. Brian Calley spoke highly of the gala. 

 

He said it was a first that Michigan had a such successful Chinese and Western classical symphony collaboration. Not only is the DCBA a mainstay of China-Michigan business and economic cooperation, but also serves as a bridge of art and culture  between the two countries. 

 

Deputy Consul General of China in Chicago, Mr. Wang Yong delivered new year greetings to all the guests as well.

 At the dinner banquet, Commercial Counselor of China in Chicago, Mr. Zou Xiaoming congratulated Jerry and the DCBA on the success achieved and the potential business opportunities that the DCBA is bringing. 

 
The CEO of Key Safety Systems, Mr. Jason Luo and Jerry had a wonderful conversation on business development and the benefits it can bring to the community, and invited fellow business leaders to join the platform. 
 
Deputy Mayor of Detroit, Mr. Ike McKinnon promoted the city of Detroit and its on-going vibrant revitalization, and welcomed guests from China to his home - Detroit. 
For the charity donation, Mr. Gil Buitrago represented Delta Air Lines to donate three flight tickets.The DCBA along with the three ticket buyers, 

 

Mr. Jim Cambridge of Kerr Russell, Mr. Daniel Hoppe of Specialize Global Logistics Services and Ms. Jessica Xie of Hylant Group purchases contributed $6,000 to the Detroit Symphony Orchestra and the America Chinese School of Greater Detroit. 
 
ZYNP INCODL as one of the most supportive business for the DCBA provided gift cards for all the lucky monkeys in the audience. The DCBA also raffled of five specially made ice wine from Canada.
The hosts of the gala are the Emmy Award winner Mr. Andrew Humphery from Channel 4 and Ms. Michelle Ma from the DCBA. 

 

Mr. Humphery shared a touching personal story about his Grandparents escaping Nazi Germany to China during the World War II.

 

 Ms. Michelle Ma also gave a beautiful vocal performance to thank all the support from the guests. Special thanks to 27 DCBA volunteers,  the phenomenal live band recommended by our sponsors from Toledo, Ohio, the Jay Ronquillo Quartet.

On the morning of February 23, Mr. Zou Xiaoming, the Commercial Counselor of China in Chicago and his colleague visited the DCBA office. Jerry Xu, the president with DCBA and board members joined this conversation with Mr. Zou. Zou said that the commerce department looks forward in working with the Detroit Chinese Business Association to create new business opportunities in Michigan.
