DCBA 2017 Gala at COBO Center
The Detroit Chinese Business Association held its Annual Chinese New Year Gala on February 11, 2017 at the COBO Center. More than 450 prominent political, business and community leaders attended this spectacular event. In the 12-year cycle of the Chinese zodiac, 2017 is the year of the Fire Rooster, which begins at January 28th, 2017. The Rooster being the sign of dawn and awakening, triumph and success can only be achieved by hard working and perseverance in 2017. Together, let's celebrate the success we achieved in the Year of Monkey and get excited and fired-up to face the challenges in the Year of Fire Rooster.
Governor Rick Snyder, who has dedicated significant time and energy to strengthening Michigan’s connections with China, served as a keynote speaker. Our esteemed guest speakers were Mr. Johan De Nisschen, president of Cadillac who came from New York to join us, and Ms. Dottie Li, the managing Director of TransPacific Communications, who worked with White House before in her impressive career. U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow made closing remarks to the quests, and wished them "Happy New Year" in Chinese.
With the support of Delta Air Lines, the DCBA was able to raise $5000 for Detroit Institute of Arts which is a gem in our community. The DCBA helped raising money for DSO, Chinese School and Detroit Public School in the past.
